 PlaymoTV Review playmoTV Review Summary

On the whole we found playmoTV to be a good all round provider. On the whole they provide an excellent service, with valuable support and stand out from the crowd with the fact that up to 5 people can share an account!

Pricing & Plans

As with most providers, playmoTV has a different level of pricing depending on how long you sign-up for. The maximum is the monthly plan that costs $4.99, and the yearly plan goes down to as low as $4.17/ month. To purchase your account, the primary payment method is PayPal. Of course, you can also pay directly with your Visa, MasterCard, Amex or Discover card should you not have PayPal. For those that prefer they also support Bitcoin payments.

There is also a seven day free trial on hand, so you can test their service before opting in to purchase. On top of this there is a 14-day money back guarantee, so you can completely make sure you are enjoying their service.

Video Review

Have a look at the video below, to see what playmoTV say about their service.

playmoTV is a small, Amercian based Smart DNS service. In this playmoTV review, you can find out the all the pros and cons of this service. The company has been around since 2011, and while we feel like they could improve in some areas, on the whole, they are a good provider to use.

playmoTV currently has six servers around the globe, with 3 of these placed in Europe. Since Smart DNS services as inherently fast, it shouldn’t cause any issues even if you are geographically far from their servers. The enormous bonus of playmoTV is that up to 5 people/ IPs can use their service at the same time. This means that you can share you playmoTV, just like you share your Netflix account.

While, a Smart DNS service doesn’t provide any security, like a VPN, it’s useful to see what information a provider keeps and logs. Reading the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy was extremely pleasant as they have tried to make it understandable to the layman. It’s also good to know that they collect and keep very little information, and most importantly they do not share any of your information.

Channels & Devices

playmoTV doesn’t provide as many setup guides or access to channels as some of the other providers out there. However, for the average person, what they provide should be adequate.

With regards to setup guides, they cover the essential operating systems for both mobile and desktop. For Mac and Windows, they do provide an application, which we will cover later on in this playmoTV review. They also have some guides for games consoles, routers and of course Apple TV. They also have some experimental support for other popular devices such as SmartTVs, Boxee, and the ever popular Roku.

When it comes to channels, they only support 21, which is one of the lowest numbers we have seen. Of course, this list is constantly growing, and as mentioned the list should be more than enough for the average user. With regards to Netflix, they have unblocked seven of it’s most famous regions, which, of course, includes the US and the UK. A significant highlight in this area is that they managed to enable HBO Now just a few days after its release.

The reason they have limited their number of channels is to make sure that they can provide a solid core service for the most popular streaming channels that people wish to access.

The website

The site is well laid out and very simplistic, which makes navigation very easy. All the information you could need is very easy to find. The ticket support is conveniently located on the right-hand side.

playmoTV also hosts a small blog. While they do update this regularly, it only contains information on their service and no advice/ recommendations on shows to watch. The same information goes for their Twitter and Facebook accounts.

playmoTV has two primary support mechanisms: a knowledge base and ticket support. The knowledge base is well populated and should provide easy to follow, basic help in case of any minor problems. The ticket support is very efficient, with an average response time of 9 hours, and also very knowledgeable and friendly.

When we conducted our playmoTV review, they also informed us that in extreme cases they can also provide Skype and remote desktop support, but as stated above, their primary assistance feature is ticket support.

The Process

Signing Up

Signing up to playmoTV was very easy and only required a name and an email address. Alternatively, if you wanted to, you could also register with your Facebook account. If you decide to purchase an account, this is also incredibly easy, with PayPal being the primary payment methods.

The playmoTV Mac client

playmoTV provides an application for both Mac and Windows, something that stands them out from most other providers. Installing the Mac version is slightly annoying since it isn’t hosted on the Mac App Store, meaning you need to allow installation from unidentified developers. This can be an issue if you’ve not done this before. For Windows, the process is as straight forward as with any other application.

The client itself is very simplistic and allows you to choose the DNS servers you wish to use and validate your IP address. When you press the ‘Update & Link’ button, you get a simple notification to let you know that the changes are active. Also, if you wish to change your Netflix region, this will still have to be done through their website.

Performance (Speed and DNS)

We checked both the speed and DNS leaks when we were using playmoTV. It came as no surprise that there was virtually no speed loss. It was also pleasant to see that they carry out all the processing on their end instead of piggybacking off other services such as Google DNS.

Other Platforms

We gave playmoTV a test on a few other devices as well. We found the setup guides easy to follow, clear and concise. There were no issues when doing so, and we could easily access any of the streaming services they support.

They say that within a few months they should also have a Windows Linker application available.

I am not liking p,laymotv right now used to have it to watch US Netflix, so I just paid 25.99 for six months and I do not see Netflix anywhere, and all the other ap ifps have a cost or you have to have a cable provider, if I had cable I would not be doing this. I feel so deceived and stupid.

I’ve been trying to sign up for a free trial period of PlayMo, but I can’t get to first base. All traffic is being redirected to their login page. Have they decided not to accept any more customers at this time? What’s going on? Or am I the only one who’s getting redirected to their login page???
