Unblock Hulu (Plus)

While it’s not the highest-ranking streaming service, Hulu has become extremely popular since its launch in 2008. Unfortunately, many people still don’t have access to it and will need some help unblocking it, which is where we come in!

Unblock Hulu

Hulu and Hulu Plus are limited to the US and Japan, which is considerably fewer countries than most other streaming services. However, they host some superb-quality content (both free and paid), so unblocking Hulu can open up a whole new world of TV entertainment to you.

To unblock Hulu, you’ll need to sign up to a Smart DNS service. We’ll explain more about this later in the article, as well as give you a step-by-step guide to unblocking Hulu and Hulu Plus. First, let’s find the best Smart DNS provider for the job.

ExpressVPN

4,9/5

  • PROS
  • Free trial
  • Awesome speeds
  • Great Customer Service
  • CONS
  • Not Much

ExpressVPN is a popular choice among SmartDNS users because of its high speeds and excellent server locations. It provides fast and reliable connections for users. Great easy-to-use apps for desktop and mobile users. And you can connect to both desktop and mobile simultaneously at no additional cost. Cheaper providers can’t compete with ExpressVPN’s ultra-reliable network of servers and world-class support. They also have guides about almost everything.

Pricing can be as low as $8.32 per month if you choose the yearly plan. It may be more than some, but you also get a better service so it well worth considering. Finally, because it offers a 30-day money back guarantee you get a chance to try it to make sure you are impressed with its service. Amazing!

2. UnoTelly

UnoTelly Logo

Positives: free trial and money-back guarantee; great client; superb region switching

Negatives: Terms of Service needs improvement; access from one IP only

UnoTelly is a first-rate provider, offering both a Smart DNS service (UnoDNS) and a VPN (UnoVPN). UnoDNS sports an excellent all-in-one client for Windows, plus a unique and impressive feature called Dynamo. This allows you to switch between the different regions of a number of online streaming services, although it’s not possible to unblock Hulu Japan with it.

UnoTelly supports a lot more features than Unblock-Us and has a greater number of settings for you to play around with. So, if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, we’d recommend trying out this superb provider.

3. Blockless

Blockless Logo

Positives: SmartVPN and AdBlocker included; free trial; plenty of regions

Negatives: software could be improved slightly; not a lot of channels

Blockless, like UnoTelly, has its own Windows client, but it also provides a Chrome plugin for ease of use. While all its clients are extremely nifty, unfortunately they don’t change your DNS settings for you; you still have to do this manually. On the plus side, though, it provides access to no less than 18 countries with geo-restricted streaming services.

Surprisingly, though, it claims only 43 unblocked channels across its huge number of regions, which is a bit of a disappointment. However, most people will be interested in just one or two, so this shouldn’t cause any issues. We highly recommend giving its free trial a go.

4. Unlocator

Unlocator Logo

Positives: free trial and money-back guarantee; a lot of channels; loads of setup guides

Negatives: client could do with a bit of refinement; no news on what’s streaming

Unlocator is a fantastic Danish service despite its relatively young age. It provides a well-rounded service, with a very useful client available on all major operating systems, including Android and iOS. The only downside to its software is that it doesn’t change the DNS settings for you, so you’ll have to do this manually.

Unlocator offers not only a free trial but also a money-back guarantee. It even provides access to a SmartVPN in case your ISP or any other service you’re using would want to carry out DNS hijacking. It has clearly given its service much consideration, and we have no reservations in recommending it.

5. IronSocket

IronSocket Logo

Positives: access from multiple IPs; easy region switching; VPN included; seven-day money-back guarantee

Negatives: higher price; no knowledge base

IronSocket offers only a combined VPN and Smart DNS package, which is the reason for its higher price. However, a yearly plan costs just $4.16/month, which is still very competitive. For this, you get an excellent provider with superb support and connection from multiple IPs. And, if you want to unblock Hulu Japan, it’s your only option on this list.

While it does have a great ticket support system, we felt that it could also provide a knowledge base for important and frequently asked questions. Overall, though, it’s a first-rate Smart DNS to use for unblocking Hulu.

Hulu with Smart DNS

While Hulu does provide a number of free shows, these can only be watched from an internet browser. If you’d like to watch Hulu on any other platform, you’ll have to sign up to a Hulu Plus account. The other advantages of Hulu Plus are that it removes some, but not all, of the advertisements and gives access to a larger range of content. Currently, this will set you back $7.99/month.

After purchasing your selected Smart DNS provider, you’ll still need to register for Hulu Plus if you opt for the premium option. Follow our step-step instructions below.

Registering for Hulu Plus

There are three main ways to register for Hulu. Method one is the easiest and cheapest, but it doesn’t always work. In which case, you can always try methods two and three.

Method 1 – Use your own Credit Card

You can use your own credit card for many online US services, as long as the ZIP code matches.

When required to enter your billing address, enter the street address as per normal. For the ZIP code, city and state, follow these steps:
1) Take the digits of your current postcode; for example, GU12 4RQ -> 124
2) Add zeros to the end until you have a five-digit number -> 12400
3) Check if it exists using the USPS Zip code tool
 4) If it doesn’t, add 1 to the end until it does. In our case, 12401.
5) For the city and state, add the results from the tool. In our case, Kingston, NY.

Method 2 – Prepaid Hulu Card

Search using Google or another search engine for merchants selling prepaid Hulu Cards. We’d recommend using JerryCards.

Method 3 – Prepaid Mastercard/Visa card

Search for US prepaid Mastercard/Visa cards, which you can then use to order your Hulu Plus account.

Unblock Hulu Conclusion

Finding a Smart DNS provider to unblock Hulu doesn’t seem to be too much of a problem. If you haven’t yet decided which provider to choose, look at our summary below. The more daunting task is registering for a Hulu account, but with our step-by-step guides even this is a doddle. Go ahead and unblock Hulu (Plus) today, and begin streaming even more content!
